Contenders for the Spectacular Quadruple this year...are

Contenders for the Spectacular Quadruple (duh !; whats this...then this blog is not for you..else read on) this year.....certainly not my close friend of more than 21 years and staunch NGO activist - Rohini Jog from Mahim, Mumbai. Why not ? - she probably cares a rat's backside about the football world cup in SA and more importantly would prefer to have Jose Mourinho as her pin-up. But why Rohini is featured in this blog post is because the only other important question I plan to answer over the next 48 hours is the one she asked me earlier today....

Me on my fb profile this morning: Facebook is NOT the only place where you can talk to a wall...I promise....

Rohini Jog (15 seconds later): I am afraid to ask, but still, where else?? :)

Well for starters, there is the Kotel HaMaaravi...thats where the Israelis in Jerusalem pray at the Wailing wall...football referees and goalkeepers talk to their defensive walls, kids always talk to walls when they play hide n'seek. Wall talk....They even have a website ...

Even President Obama talks to a Wall...in this case he is TALKING tough TO WALL street wank..sorry bankers..http://abcnews.go.com/WN/financial-regulation-obama-talking-tough-wall-street/story?id=10438608

I guess you get the drift and Rohini - if you are reading this (I owe you a drink for your name/TM rights - Mondy's O.K ?).

So back to the main story - So which footballer (s) could win 4 trophies this year - 2 in the local league, Champions League and the World cup..the last time someone won something close was when Roberto Carlos won the Champions League with Real Madrid and the World Cup with Brazil (both in 2002).

And this year, that honor can only be won by someone from Inter Milan who won a historic treble by winning the CL last month.

I put my money on 5 Inter Milan players - Julio Cesar (Goalkeeper) and Maicon and Lucio - (all Brazil), Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands) and Milito (Argentina).

It is disappointing that we don't have any Spaniards or English in this list but thats purely because of the strong local leagues in the EPL and the La Liga - meaning there is very little chance that the English or Spaniards playing for their national squads would end up playing in Italy or Germany and least likely in the Dutch league.

Since my last blog - Brazil have edged up with the bookies with a 9/2 vs. Spain still at 4-1. I think I should create an account with William Hill...

And maybe talk to a wall - what say Rohini ?
